The Features:

Modular Functionality

Not only a tripod, Charles 2.0 can also be used as a light stand, a stabilised monopod, a table-top tripod, or for macro set-ups thanks to his 3 detachable legs.

Max Load to Weight Ratio of 18:1

Charles 2.0 is capable of supporting loads up to 18 times his weight. With a 40kg payload.

Knurled Knobs

Pro Range 2.0 tripods, including Charles, now have knurled caps on the leg locks, and column lock, as well as on the AirHed Pro available in Charles 2.0 kits. The knurling creates a grippier surface enabling users to apply greater leverage when loosening or tightening.

Parallel Locking

3 Legged Thing's unique Parallel Locking system provides better leverage, and greater rigidity, without the hassle of accidental disassembly.

Multiple Mounting Points

Our patented Tri-Mount plate offers multiple threaded connections and three hollowed spurs for accessory attachments and has refined contouring for ease of use.

A Range of Footwear

Charles 2.0 has detachable rubber Bootz, which can be replaced with any of our foot accessories, for maximum stability on any terrain.

I got thie Charles tripod recently and I am very happy with it. It is well built and made from quality materials. I love the versatility of it. I’m a tall guy and wanted a tripod that is bigger than average. It allows me to shoot at eye level without having to stoop over or squat. It has been great for shooting airshows, wildlife and some astrophotography. Even the carry bag is impressive. Well worth the price.

Fantastic height (I'm 172cm and it's at eye-level when extended), and the build quality seems to be really good. I took a long time deciding on a new tripod, and had a 3LT Punks Brian for travelling, so I knew it would be good. Got it at £175 with Neo head and bag (the bag is nice but why not have it longer so the tripod can be slipped in ready to use?) and I consider that a bit of a bargain based on other manufacturers. Well done 3LT, pleased to be supporting a British business too!

Great can't falt it, witch is why I have a few 3legged things.
I will be buying again when I see something else I want as there stuff will last a long time so won't need replacing.

The only downside size was I didn't get a free gift this time as the offer wasn't on 😪

Love this tripod, it’s bulky due to only having two sections which means I often carry it separately rather than attach to my camera bag. Not ideal if you’re on a long walk but perfect for shorter distances. But the advantage is it’s so sturdy perfect for those longer exposures. I also didn’t realise how tall it was, it’s massive even without the centre column makes life so much easier when shooting in rivers and streams. Light strong and easy to use. Would highly recommend.

I bought this as an upgrade from my travel tripod. It's not actually that much heavier, but it's a lot more stable - I did some tests with my camera and 100-400mm lens when I got it, and there's really no comparison.
The Airhed Pro is excellent too, locks down nice and tight but all the knobs feel very smooth and nicely damped. All in all I'm very pleased with this! I've not had a bad product from 3LT, and this continues the theme :)

Living on an Island I needed a sturdy tripod that feels secure in windy conditions. Another need for my landscape work is having a decent height range. This ticks this box. Not light for carrying, but it's a trade off I'm happy to take for the stability.

3LT gear is fantastic. It never lets you down.I have tripods, monopods, heads and L brackets. All first class.Theydon'tjust look the part, they do what they are supposed to do.Will I buy more 3LT kit. In a heart beat.

Very happy with this tripod from 3 legged thing. A strong, well-built, and versatile tripod ideal for photographers who need reliability and flexibility without the cost of premium carbon fibre models.

This tripod rocks (in the good sense, because I guess rocking back and forth might make for a terrible tripod experience). It's easy to assemble, it's not too heavy, and it's sturdy as hell.

Even using the shortest setup for the legs and lifting the centre column to the top, Charles is stable with my Sony a7IV. And even if you take off the centre column (which, by the way, you can), Charles is as tall as I am (and I am a tall guy), so you have a lot of options in a very comfortable package.

Top it up with the AirHed Pro head and I have everything I need.

Superb

Having had a three legged thing tripod for many years i knew what to expect in terms of build quality, I recently decided to treat myself to another one and decided on the Charles 2.0, wow talk about sturdy, in some respects it puts my carbon fibre one to shame, still has the same build quality you come to expect, and I especially like the fact that you can remove all the legs to enable it to be used as a table top tripod, even though it's made from magnesium allow its not that much heavier than my carbon fibre one, if you're after a rock solid tripod at a very reasonable price you can't go far wrong with the Charles 2.0, I would highly recommend.

Truly Outstanding

Only been using it about a week, but super impressed so far. Ease of set up, airhead pro is awesome... basically everything you need and nothing you don't. Completely stable with a Pentax 67 in the mountains on snow and ice with a fair bit of wind. I wouldn't hesitate to mount a 4x5 on it. Weight of the mag alloy is prefect - enough to aid stability but not so heavy that you won't bring it along. I've used some good tripods/systems in the past and this is as good as any of them and better than most. For the price, it can't be beat.

Awesome Charles

I recently bought the Charles 2.0 Magnesium Alloy Tripod with VANZ footwear and a Airhed Pro lever. I have been wanting a 3LT for a long time now and bit the bullet and bought one. I can only say that I wish I had done it long ago. The quality is amazing the stability of the Charles 2 pro is outstanding and it is so easy and quick to get setup ready to use. The fact it also converts to a monopod and a table top tripod is so useful to me. Doing a lot of wildlife and macro photography makes this tripod choice a no-brainer. The feet and head are equally good quality products, they just look and feel quality. No more shaky tripod, thanks 3LT, it's brilliant.

Solid Tripod

I've only been using the Charles for a few months, but I love it. It is so versatile and ridged. It is the only tripod I'm happy using with my large lens. I love the practicality of being able to take low angle shots, or high shots and you can also use the legs as a monopod. You can easily adapt it to any shooting situation.
My only criticism is that any part that is screwed together has a habit of unscrewing. I've learnt that before you use it, to check that all the legs are screwed in tight. So far, a loose thread has lost me a foot!
Despite the issue with parts working loose, I love using the Charles, and it is my go to tripod when out and about.

Ed
STURDY!

Charles is tall and rock solid. If I would criticize anything about it is it's a bit noisy extending the legs. That's all I got. Very good tripod.

A tripod that won't hold you back

Charles is tall, dark, handsome and humble; very capable of reaching high places, or crawling around on the ground. He doesn't mind if you make him do the splits, or take his legs off entirely!
He even claims to be a bit of an AirHed, but he certainly is not!
I'm sure he's got a few more tricks I'm yet to find out about, but so far I'm blown away by him - I'll be keeping him for many, many years!

Oh...
You want a tripod review?... How silly of me...
Ummm... Everything I've said above is still true!

Simply put, Charles 2.0 won't limit your tripod-based photography. Solidly built; Easy to operate, even when your hands are near-frozen.

The best designed tripod I have used

Over twenty years of photography I have used several different brands of tripod and various different models. The Charles 2.0 stands head and shoulders above them, in materials, manufacture and usability. If you are looking for your next tripod you can't do better than Charles.
