3 Legged Thing

The ModFather Airgun Moderator - SpiderWeb

Regular price £14999 GBP

High-volume suppression. Studio-grade acoustics. Unapologetically beautiful.

The Modfather is a compact, high-capacity air rifle moderator that combines serious acoustic engineering with full cosmetic customisation and a modular expansion system designed for shooters who want absolute control over sound, airflow, and appearance.

At just 12cm / 4.7" long, with a substantial 45mm / 1.77" diameter, The Modfather packs an impressive 92ml / 3.2 fl oz internal capacity into a short, balanced body. It’s engineered to be exceptionally quiet — and built to look like nothing else on the firing line.

Then we gave it options. Lots of them.

Description

Studio-Grade Acoustic Control

Inside The Modfather is high-density acoustic foam of the same type used in recording studios and radio stations, with a density of 24kg per cubic metre.

This material is specifically chosen to absorb and diffuse sound energy efficiently, helping to reduce sharp muzzle crack and smooth the overall report. When lead particulate build-up eventually occurs, the foam is user-washable, restoring performance without replacing components.

Quiet isn’t accidental here. It’s engineered.

Fully Cosmetically Enhanced

This isn’t a moderator that disappears — it belongs on the rifle.

The Modfather features:

  • Three interchangeable exoskeleton designs
  • Four inner tube colour options
  • Anodised endoskeleton for a premium, engineered finish

Performance stays identical across all cosmetic configurations. The choice is purely visual — match your rifle, your optic, or your personal taste.

It’s functional art. On the muzzle.

One system. Three distinct expressions.

Every Modfather shares the same internal engineering, acoustic performance, and modular capability. The difference lies in how it presents itself at the muzzle. Each exoskeleton is precision-machined to the same tolerances, offering identical strength and airflow characteristics, with a clearly defined visual identity.

Choose the style that suits your rifle, your aesthetic, or your mood.

Slotted
Clean, linear precision with a restrained, technical look.

Chevron

Cap & Thread Options

To ensure optimal performance across calibres and platforms, The Modfather offers multiple cap configurations:

Front Caps

  • .177 / .22
  • .25 / .30

Rear Caps

  • 1/2" UNF
  • M14x1.25
  • M14x1 LH (CCW) for airsoft platforms

Modular by Design

The Modfather isn’t a fixed system — it’s a configurable platform.

Optional Extension Tube

An optional extension tube adds a third chamber, increasing internal volume and improving airflow management for even greater sound suppression.

It can be configured in three ways:

  • Mounted at the barrel end
  • Mounted at the muzzle end
  • Used independently as a compact stubby moderator

Stackable System

Have more than one Modfather?
Use the extension ring to stack moderators, increasing volume and suppression further for ultra-quiet setups.

Build it short.
Build it long.
Build it absurdly quiet.

Accuracy

The pellet leaves first.

On a bare muzzle, the air that fired your pellet catches it. It expands past the speed of sound, overtakes the pellet within a few calibres of the crown, and pushes past it in a plume that's rarely quite symmetrical. Off-centre air, off-centre nudge. The Modfather takes that away.

Plate B · Modfather — two chambers · 92 ml 46 ml 46 ml AIR TRAILS THE PELLET
Plate C · Modfather + Extension Tube — three chambers · 138 ml EXTENSION TUBE 46 ml 46 ml 46 ml AIR FURTHER BEHIND STILL
t = 0 µs

Schematic — geometry and timing are illustrative, not measured. The plates show the mechanism, not a test result.

Because the Modfather's chambers are large and the air meets them immediately, the expansion happens fast and it happens early. Air that has lost its pressure has lost its speed. By the time the pellet reaches the end cap, the air is behind it and staying there. The pellet exits into air that has already given up most of what it had.

The honest way to put it: the Modfather doesn't make your rifle more accurate. It removes something that was making it less accurate. And it removes the flinch, which on most rifles is the larger of the two variables and stands behind the trigger.

Fitting any moderator adds mass at the muzzle and changes how the barrel behaves. Expect your point of impact to move, and re-zero after fitting or after changing configuration.

Slow the air down and the pellet is simply gone before the air matters.
Quiet

A bang is just air in a hurry

The same slow-down does the other job. Your rifle isn't loud because of how much air it uses — it's loud because of how fast that air arrives. Release the same air slowly enough and it makes very little sound at all.

All the Modfather is doing is stretching the release. The air still leaves. It just takes long enough that your ears never register an event.

Pressure at the muzzle · same air, different shape TIME → PRESSURE (RELATIVE) → BARE MUZZLE PEAK

Schematic — illustrates the principle, not a measurement. The shaded area under the curve is the air leaving your barrel. It never changes. Only its shape does.

The pellet is quiet. The air is the problem.

A pre-charged pneumatic makes almost all of its noise in one place, at one instant: the moment the compressed air behind the pellet meets the atmosphere at the crown. It isn't the pellet — the pellet is travelling comfortably below the speed of sound and makes very little noise of its own.

Which is the good news. You aren't fighting several noise sources. You're fighting one. A single, well-understood problem is an engineering problem.

Why

Three mechanisms, one objective

A moderator is not a plug and it isn't a sponge. It's a machine for taking energy away from moving air, and it does it three ways at once. None of them is a trick. All of them are physics, executed carefully.

Volume

Give it somewhere to go

Pressure is crowding. Open a big enough room and the crowd stops shoving. The Modfather hands the air 46ml the instant it clears the crown, and 46ml more behind that.

DIRECT Path

Make it take the long way

Air forced to turn, double back and squeeze through structure loses energy to friction every time it changes direction. It reaches the exit having spent most of what it had on the journey.

→ HEAT Material

Let it turn into heat

Energy can't be destroyed, only moved. Drive a pressure wave through acoustic foam and the structure flexes, drags against itself, and converts that wave into a fractional rise in temperature. The noise doesn't go anywhere. It becomes warmth.

All three serve one end

Volume, path and material don't each shave off a slice of the noise. They do one job between them: they slow the air down. Quiet and accuracy are both consequences of the same thing.

The architecture

Two chambers. 46ml each.

92ML

The air clears the crown and falls straight into a volume many times its own. The pressure drops at once — then does it again in the second chamber.

Because the expansion is large and it happens immediately, it also happens fast. The slow-down is essentially complete while the pellet is still inside the tube.

That's the point of the architecture. Not more stages. Earlier ones.

Modular madness

And then there's a third

The extension tube adds another 46ml chamber, identical to the two already there. Total expansion volume goes from 92ml to 138ml — half as much room again for the air to disappear into.

Quieter. And a further chamber's worth of collapse before the end cap means the air is deader still by the time the pellet is clear of it.

Take it off for a walked-up day when you want the shortest package you can carry. Put it back on for the hide. Same moderator, two configurations, thirty seconds between them.

The short version

Same air. Taking its time.

The Modfather doesn't hold the air in. It drops it into 92ml of nowhere and lets volume, distance and material finish it off before it can make much of a sound. Quieter is what you hear. Straighter is what you get.

That's the science. The rest is machining.
