3 Legged Thing Announces The Newest Evolution in Universal L-brackets

The award-winning British tripod maker introduces Lexie, its new universal camera L-bracket system.

Following the huge global success of the Ellie universal L-bracket system, introduced in early 2019, 3 Legged Thing has now announced the newest evolution of universal L-brackets. Lexie is an Arca-Swiss compatible universal camera L-bracket system that offers a wider range of photographers advanced L-bracket functionality in a single modular unit.

L-brackets enable tripod users to switch rapidly from landscape to portrait orientation whilst maintaining the sensor on the same focal plane and keeping a level horizon.

Crafted from precision-engineered magnesium alloy and anodised in 3 stunning colours – Copper, Slate Grey, and Darkness, Lexie's modular design enables it to be used with a wide range of DLSR and mirrorless cameras from manufacturers including Canon, Fujifilm, Leica, Nikon, OM System, Panasonic, Pentax, and Sony.

"Universal L-brackets have been such a huge success for us that I really wanted to build on the modularity, and make it more functional, more compatible, and more essential for photographers of all levels. Lexie is an exciting technological step-forward in universal L-brackets, fitting more cameras than any other bracket that came before, and offering future compatibility with game-changing accessories." – Danny Lenihan, 3 Legged Thing Founder & CEO.

The Lexie universal bracket has a fresh new design that takes its DNA from the Ellie L-bracket and builds on it to deliver ultimate modularity in a single L-bracket.

Thanks to its extending base, Lexie can fit an enormous variety of different camera bodies and still give users access to battery doors. Lexie has two camera screw slots in the base, that enable the L-bracket to be moved forward or back on the camera for optimal positioning and access to side ports and rear screens.

The vertical aspect has a small cut-out which can be positioned in 4 different places by removing the whole side and flipping it. This enables tethering with L-shaped cables when the camera and L-bracket are used in portrait orientation. The extending base also means that the vertical can be moved away from the side of the camera to accommodate larger cables and accessories.

For this new universal L-bracket, Lexie has a specially designed Peak Design Capture v3-compatible adapter supplied in the box, giving users this extra functionality at no extra cost. The adapter is made from robust glass-reinforced nylon that is both strong and non-abrasive.

To enable the attachment of accessories, Lexie features two ¼â€-20 screw threads in both the vertical aspect, and in the base, for use in portrait orientation.

Lexie is available starting today from 3leggedthing.com and all good camera retailers, with a suggested retail price of £59.99 / US $64.99 / EU Û58.33. Find your nearest 3LT stockist at 3leggedthing.com/where-to-buy.
