3 Legged Thing Announces Ollie and Alfie, dedicated L-Brackets for Sony Alpha Cameras and OM System OM-1
The British tripod manufacturer, known for their innovative camera support accessories, has announced two new dedicated L-brackets for Sony and OM System cameras.
In response to customer demand, 3 Legged Thing is excited to announce Alfie and Ollie, two new dedicated L-brackets designed specifically for Sony cameras and the OM System OM-1 respectively.
An essential tool for many types of photographer who use tripods, L-brackets enable a quick switch from landscape to portrait, and vice versa, whilst maintaining the same focal plane and a level horizon. They also allow the camera to remain above the centre of the tripod, the optimal position for stability.

Alfie is 3LT's first camera L-bracket built specifically for Sony cameras. Designed for the recent A7 IV and A7R V cameras, 3 Legged Thing is happy to confirm that Alfie also works with the A7R V, A7 III, A7R III, A7R IV, A7S II, A7S III, A9 II and A1 camera bodies.
Made from aerospace-grade magnesium alloy, the Alfie L-bracket fits the contours of the cameras perfectly giving users full access to battery doors and side ports. The base is shaped around the camera to ensure a secure fit. A cut-out in the vertical allows rear screens to be opened either upright or tilted. Alfie has two ¼â€-20 threads for attachment of accessories – one in the base and one in the upright.
Alfie's base extends to allow Sony users to plug-in cables in portrait orientation or when tethering and includes a detachable cable management tool for extra support. The extending base features a self-contained screw that does not detach from the bracket, so it can't be lost. The base also features a cut-out to reduce the weight of the L-bracket. The supplied adapter enables the L-bracket to be used with Peak Design's Capture clip system (v3).
Following the release of the OM System OM-1 camera, 3 Legged Thing were inundated with requests for an L-bracket for that model, and the result is Ollie. 3LT designed the bracket to perfectly fit the contours of the camera, and its shaped base ensures a secure fit without twisting.
Ollie's design gives users full access to side ports and battery door so the L-bracket can remain on the camera. The L-bracket's vertical aspect has a cut-out which allows the screen to be flipped-out and tilted for use. The upright has an indent near the front for easy access to the camera's strap lug.
To enable OM-1 users to use the side ports or to tether the camera in portrait orientation, 3LT added an extendable base to the L-bracket. It uses a self-contained non-detachable screw for the extender so the screw can't be lost. Ollie's base has a weight-saving cut-out and features a ¼â€-20 screw thread that can be used to attach an accessory arm. Ollie is also supplied with an adapter that allows the L-bracket to be used with Peak Design's Capture clip system (v3).
Alfie and Ollie L-brackets are available in 3 Legged Thing's signature Copper or Metallic Slate Grey colours, as well as 3LT's newest Darkness matte black colourway.
