WARRANTY INFORMATION

Thank you for purchasing a 3 Legged Thing product.

We are very proud of our design and engineering standards, and as such, 3 Legged Thing offers a 5 year limited warranty against manufacturing defects.

  • OWNERSHIP

The warranty is limited to the original owner and cannot be transferred. Should the ownership change, the warranty will only be valid up to the statutory duration according to the applicable law in each country, provided that the original proof of purchase is available.

  • LIMITATIONS

Where items are deliberately removable from a product - i.e. release plates, camera screws, mounting plates, threaded bolts, threaded sleeves, monopod legs, centre columns, ball heads, d-rings and all footwear types, these items are warranted only against manufacturing defect, and not against loss as the result of use or transportation. We recommend that tripods and heads are transported in the supplied bags and cases so that any loose items are retained whilst transporting them.

  • EASY RETURNS

The warranty extends from the date of purchase, as supplied on the purchase receipt, to the same date and time in five years, effectively providing a 5 year and 1 day warranty on all items. Claims will be taken from the time submitted, regardless of the timing of the return, within reason.

  • CLAIMS

All warranty claims should be submitted to support@3leggedthing.com. We will endeavour to resolve your claim quickly and to your satisfaction. Bribing us with cakes is entirely unnecessary, but don't let that stop you.

INSTRUCTION MANUALS

Below are the links to our instruction manuals in several languages. Whilst our tripods all utilise similar technology, there are real differences between the tripod ranges, so please download the correct manual. Clcik the links below to jump to the specific manuals.

HOW DO I?

In this section, we cover the basic functions of our tripods, and how they operate. We have created videos to explain the different functions and help you get familiar with the world's most versatile tripod system.

We also have a complete page of videos showing all of the basic configurations, and methods of servicing, cleaning, and replacing parts.

  • CONVERT TO MONOPOD

On one of the legs you will see an orange band, near the top by the hinge. This denotes the monopod leg. The method for transforming to monopod depends on which product you have, as they vary according to range.

  • REMOVE THE CENTRE COLUMN

To remove the centre column, you must first unscrew the D-Ring or spring hook from the bottom of the column. Then loosen the collar (friction lock) allowing you to slide the column out. Unscrew the mounting plate and thread from the column, and screw directly to the canopy.

  • ADJUSTING THE LEVER CLAMP or SWITCH CLAMP

Different release plates have different base profiles. Whilst your Lever Clamp or Switch Clamp should automatically accept a 3LT plate, it may be too tight or too loose with a different brand plate. Locate the hex bolt through the centre of the orange lever. Use the included hex key to loosen or tighten the clamp.

  • HOW DOES THE TRI-MOUNT PLATE WORK?

The Tri-Mount plate at the top of your centre column is a unique technology to 3 Legged Thing. It's patented design enables connections via six 1/4"-20 and one 3/8"-16 threaded holes, and three hollow spurs for accessory attachment and cable management. Go to the How-To page for explanation videos.

TOXIC BAGS - HOW DO I?

Here we’ll explain how to use some of the main features of our bags. We have created videos showing the unique aspects of each bag and how you can carry your gear effectively.

  • FROG POCKET – WHERE TO STASH YOUR WET STUFF

Each of our camera bags has an amphibious “Frog” pocket that’s accessible from the bag exterior. It has a waterproof lining that completely separates it from the main interior section and your expensive camera gear. On Valkyrie it’s accessible behind the lumbar padding on the rear of the bag. On Wraith it can be found on one end of the bag.

  • HOW DO I ATTACH A TRIPOD?

Valkyrie comes with in-built tripod loops that are stashed away at the front of the bag. Look at the coloured loops at the bottom of the bag front, pull them down to release the tripod loops.  We recommend you fasten the straps around at least two of the legs and the centre column of your tripod, and then secure the third leg using the elastic bungee loop stashed in the side of the loop.

  • WHERE CAN I KEEP MY VALUABLES?

Each of our camera bags includes a small pocket that’s ideal for stashing cash, passports and other small valuables. We locate it on the rear of the bags so it can be worn against the body for extra security.

  • HOW DO I KEEP MY BAG DRY IN THE RAIN?

Each of the bags comes with an integrated rainfly, built into the base of the bag. To protect from the rain, pull the rainfly out and cover the bag..

PLATES, HEADS, CLAMPS & FOOTWEAR

RELEASE PLATES

TRIPOD HEADS

CLAMPS

TRIPOD FOOTWEAR

Our release plates are all Arca Swiss compatible

QR4: Square Plate, standard Arca Fit, includes security screws which, if removed provide Peak Design Capture compatibility

QR7: 38mm x 70mm Plate, standard Arca Fit, full slot, security screws and strap connector

QR11-LC & LG: 110mm Universal L Bracket, standard Arca Fit, Long slot and security screws, cable access and strap connectors on both side

Our Ball-heads are universally compatible.

We don’t use proprietary technology where a universal solution exists, because we know our customers may have built up their gear over many years, and won’t want to upgrade or change from a trusted item. 3 Legged Thing’s AirHed range of ball-heads have a standard 3/8" UNC socket in a flat base which makes them compatible with any tripod with a flat mounting plate and a 3/8" UNC bolt.

Multi-functional clamps

Our clamps have a universal base with a cross socket, to be retro-compatible with most ball-heads. Our clamps also have the unique feature of being mountable on any 3/8”-16 device, such as a monopod. The clamps bear two sockets for compatibility with plates that have security screws (like our QR4, QR7, QR11-LC and QR11-LG), Ellie, and Zelda, and will fit any standard 38mm Arca-style release plate.

Footwear options

All current 3 Legged Thing tripods have either 1/4”-20 threads, 3/8”-16 threads, or a 1/4” thread with a 3/8” sleeve, for dual compatibility. Our footwear options all have the same dual threads and will fit any tripod that has standard threads.
