Get some insight into our Pro Team member Emily Endean and learn about her passion for photography!
We have a range of different people on our Pro Team and collectively their talent is infinite! It's about time you got to know another one of our members.
Emily is an ocean and landscape photographer, runs her own workshops and takes incredible images of the ocean and its surroundings, but we don't want to tell you everything, have a read on to get to know Emily a little more...
Was there a single event that made you decide to become a professional photographer?
Not one single event, no, but it was a series of moments. Growing up I loved my little film camera and I just became obsessed with photography. This carried through my early adulthood, but it wasn't until my 30th birthday my wife bought me my first DSLR and it kind of just spiralled from there! I honed my craft and gradually 'Emily Endean Photography' was born. It was roughly 10 years later I quit my day job and went full-time freelance!
What is your favourite location to capture?
Anywhere by the ocean! In it, next to it, as long as I am near it! I find my creative flow in full swing at the ocean.

Social media – love it or hate it?
This is a tricky one! Without social media I wouldn't have been seen and been able to work with so many great brands and clients. It's a great way to connect with like-minded people and other inspiring photographers. But in daily life, I find it a drain on your time and energy, its designed to be so addictive so it can be a real battle to keep from falling down that hole! Everything in moderation, hey?
Favourite camera you have ever used or owned, and why?
I'd say my current camera, the Fujifilm X-T5. I just love the feel of it. How intuitive it is to use. Most of what I do is based around feelings rather than anything technical!
What's in your kit bag?
- Fujifilm X-T5
- 16-80mm, 35mm, 60mm, 55-200mm
- 3 Legged Thing Bucky and Ellie
- Filters – Kase Grads and Tide Optics Polariser and ND.

Name 5 essential items in your photography bag.
Lens cloths, a flask of coffee, a snack bar, phone and headphones.
Are there any strange/unusual items in your photo bag? Household bits?
Shells! Haha. Just one or 2 I've picked up along the way. If I'm not feeling completely inspired at the shoreline then it's always worth whipping out a shell and playing with some abstract wave trails! Come along on one of my workshops and you will see what I mean!
How would you describe your style of photography?
Mindful & creative seascapes.

What is one thing you have learnt over the past year?
How to drive a huge left hand drive motorhome!
What is your earliest memory of handling a camera?
Probably around 5 years old, playing with a little film camera and getting photos of my family. The magic of it is still with me now!
If you hadn't of gotten into photography, what do you think you'd be doing now?
Well up until June 2022 I was an Insurance Broker. I kind of fell into the industry after leaving school and left to pursue my dream full-time. As well as moving into my home on wheels with my wife and pets at the same time! 2022 saw some HUGE life changes for me!

What is one question you'd like to be asked and never have been?
'Will you please come and document my around the world trip, all expenses paid!' Really open to this....
What is the most random fact you know/love?
Wombats poop is cube shaped! The only known animal species to do this. Apparently they do this to mark their territory and to stop it rolling away. I think my wife told me this..... great fact, right?! haha
