As someone who spends countless hours scouring the internet, forums, and spec sheets searching for the *best*- I can confidently say that the Leo is such. From the form factor to weight capabilities alone, the Leo is unmatched. You shouldn’t be able to mount a large format camera on a miniature carbon tripod, yet here we are. Jumping off from there, you have immense modularity, that really sets it up to be the perfect workhorse tripod. I own many tools for many occasions, but when it comes to tripods it is the Leo almost every. Single. Time.

Product is of the highest quality and works really well. I could really do with more than one coupler as I have to keep moving it from each camera so I can use the tripod connection

Excellence Achieved

Fantastic design and build quality matched only by its stunning looks. Sturdy, lightweight and engineered to the highest standard. Distinguished by the rarest of achievements - quality and value. Highly recommended AAA++

The Supermodel of the Tripod World

If James Bond ever decided to dabble in landscape photography between saving the world and sipping martinis, the 3 Legged Thing LEO 2.0 Carbon Fiber Tripod would be his weapon of choice. Sleek, sturdy, stylish, and surprisingly lightweight, this tripod is basically the Aston Martin of camera support systems—except it folds up nicely and doesn't require a license to operate.

First Impressions
Unboxing this thing felt like welcoming a piece of futuristic art into my gear collection. It's aesthetically pleasing in a way that makes you pause and whisper, “Did I just fall for a tripod?” The carbon fiber legs have that beautiful, high-tech weave pattern that says, “Yes, I'm strong. Yes, I'm light. And yes, I do look good in every photo.”

Weight & Portability
Clocking in at just over 3 pounds (depending on head configuration), LEO 2.0 is light enough to carry up a mountain without questioning your life choices—but it's not so feathery that you worry it'll float away at the first gust of wind. It's a fine balance, like a yoga instructor who also does CrossFit.

Design & Build Quality
The craftsmanship is top-tier. Every twist lock and joint feels engineered with the kind of precision usually reserved for space telescopes or really fancy espresso machines. It's got a modular system that makes transforming it into different setups weirdly satisfying, like LEGO for grown-ups with expensive hobbies.

Stability
Once you set it up, this thing is rock solid. I mean, you could probably fend off a raccoon with it and still get a sharp long exposure afterward (not recommended, but noted). Even with heavy gear, the LEO 2.0 doesn't flinch. It just stands there, stoic and confident—like it's been through things and come out stronger.

Bonus Style Points
Look, we all like to pretend gear aesthetics don't matter, but deep down we know they do. The LEO 2.0 looks cool. Not just “photographer cool,” but actually cool. Like, “I might name my next houseplant after it” cool.

The Verdict
The 3 Legged Thing LEO 2.0 is a brilliant tripod. It's thoughtfully designed, impressively stable, and light enough to take anywhere without questioning your sanity. It's a serious tool with a fun personality—just like your best hiking buddy who also gives solid financial advice.

Final Rating: 5/5 stars. Would let it hold my camera and my emotional baggage.

Perfect for Traveling

I picked up a LEO 2.0 to use when I travel. It's light, compact and goes everywhere easily. I love how it fits so nicely on my backpack. The LEO is well designed and so convenient that I've been using it as my main tripod. Well done 3LT!!!

Just what I was looking for

The tripod with ball head arrived a few days ago along with a separate L bracket. I needed a small compact tripod for plane travel. This tripod will fit nicely into my carry on luggage.

The tripod is well made and well designed. I have tried it out and it is sufficiently stable for my use with a Nikon D850/Z7 and my set of shift lenses.

I already have a 3 Legged Thing monopod, which has served me well so far.

Excellent tripod, light weight, good quality, strong, compact,

I am so glad that I got this tripod. Amazing quality. It easily holds the Sony A7R IV with a 400mm lens. I have also been using the monopod frequently for the 400m lens. I also like the rapid setup and the compactness. It's the best tripod I have used so far.

Goes Every Where

Leo 2.0 Carbon was an upgrade from a Corey and the Leo has been everywhere from Florida to Hawaii, captured the Milky Way and the Northern Lights and never disappointed or let me down.
Perfect companion for mirrorless cameras, I've used Sony a7r series since 2015, whether with a 14mm or a 70-200mm.

Generally good

I like the tripod. I bought it to replace a manfrotto element big after loosing the monopod leg.
I research my purchases and read and watched reviews.
I'm finding it more intuitive as I use it more. The bulky leg locks are reassuring and easy to use with gloved hands. It's light but feels solid. I'm 6'6" so there are few tripods aimed at travel or hiking that are long enough but this one is a good height even though I'm more likely to need it for lower shots so this is not really an issue. I actually bought a set of vanz as I anticipated using it as a "desk top" tripod for some low level shots.
It is nice to look at. Not really a functional observation but worth a mention.
The bag is nice too and it packs awY neatly with a pocket for bits and bobs such as spare feet.

A wonderfully versatile travel tripod.

The marketing copy describes LEO as a traveller's dream, and I have to say I agree! I took LEO with me when I walked the Camí de Cavalls this summer, and while I certainly broke a sweat, the tripod never did. It held it's own on rocky paths, dusty trails and even sandy beaches, all with the included Bootz footwear - I haven't had a reason to swap in more specialised feet, though a winter trip to the Faroes could change that. I can vouch for the reconfigurability however; I purchased a dedicated monopod before my LEO, but with the detachable legs I can go from one to three points of contact without carrying two different supports.

Build quality is consistent with other 3LT products I own, which is to say excellent - unlike with bags, I haven't any personal experience with other tripod offerings, but there's no drawbacks with LEO making me look elsewhere. Personal preference - I'd have gone for the Darkness colourway if it was offered, but as my particular LEO predates Darkness entirely I can't really complain.

The included bag is a nice touch, though as mentioned in other reviews some storage provision for an alternative set of footwear wouldn't go unappreciated. I tend to secure tripods to my backpack and (unsurprisingly) LEO pairs well with 3LT/Toxic Valkyrie bags in this application - I wholeheartedly recommend the pairing for anyone shopping for both.

Great Daily Tripod

This is my go-to tripod for the day job - small enough and light enough that it just comes everywhere with me yet stable enough for everything I generally need (architecture, property and landscapes mostly).

The legs do need a bit of tightening every so often - as I just noticed photographing the aurora tonight. More so than my big tripod, but for what these cost that is a minor criticism really!

Versatile and Lightweight

I've had Leo for a few years now and don't regret my purchase one bit. He's easily packable and doesn't add a lot of excess weight to my kit. Leg configurations are numerous and easy to set up. Stability and support of my gear are top notch. An added bonus was the black/gray color scheme, so it's subtle and not flashy.

Great lightweight tripod for outdoors

Leo 2.0 is a lovely tripod which is light enough to really use when out and about. It's versatile in its construction - tall enough to be comfortable for me @ 6'3", but also great for low-level work... I love macro work with flowers and insects. It also disassembles to make a very useable monopod, which is even better if you add the DOCZ2 foot stabiliser. I have a set of VANZ feet as well, so it can become a tabletop tripod! Both my Manfrottos are now relegated to history, if I wasn't a hoarder Id sell the smaller one.

All TLT gear is beautifully made; however, I managed to shake a grub screw out of the fixing plate when towing it over rough ground in a trolly without much suspension. TLT replaced the unit for me with no problems, and I added some thread lock so it can't happen again.

If I had one wish, it would be that its travel bag was long enough so I didn't have to take the VANS feet off when stowing, but it's no biggy.

The Leo

The Leo is a great addition to my tripods. Nice and light for travel and just the right size for my bag. I have used it for all work from GoPro to Canon EOS-R. And the monopod has even come in handy.

Great Tripod

I've been using this tripod for a couple of years now, doing landscape and headshot photography. I would have given it 4.5 stars if it was an option. It packs down relatively small, is solid, and has great flexibility in positioning. My only complaint is that it's not a few inches taller. I'm 6'4'' so a bit higher would be awesome. The only issue I've had was a screw working loose on the head, causing me to loose the lever. Customer service hooked me right up.

Loving my Leo!

After spending 20+ years with full size limited adjustment tripods I finally purchased a 3 Legged Thing Leo with a bit of wondering if I would have been happier with my previous brands. I have to say, immediately I came away impressed with build, looks, adjustability, engineering and size & weight. So happy!

Travel light. But securely.

This is pretty hard to beat as a travel tripod. It really does fit into hand luggage and is well up to its job, in my case supporting a Hasselblad X1D500ii and lenses on some pretty wild Greek islands!

A very portable lightweight tripod

An excellent tripod for the traveller. Lightweight but sturdy and strong enough for the heaviest of set ups. Easy to use, well made and reliable.
