3 Legged Thing Introduces Charles 2.0 β The Newest Tripod In Its Pro Range
The award-winning British tripod maker, known for its technologically advanced camera support systems, adds Charles 2.0 to its Pro Range of tripods.
In response to requests for a more cost-conscious professional tripod, 3 Legged Thing is excited to announce Charles 2.0. Itβs an incredibly stable 3-section tripod formed from aerospace-grade magnesium alloy. It is based on the same design as 3LTβs best-selling carbon-fibre Pro Range tripod Winston 2.0. Charlesβ alloy construction offers users the same impressive load capability and versatility as Winston, at a lower price point.
βWinston 2.0 has been one of our best-selling tripods since its release. Despite its popularity, we know thereβs demand for a more affordable option,β said Stuart Boston, Chief Operations Officer, 3 Legged Thing. βIn response, weβre happy to announce Winstonβs aluminium sibling, Charles 2.0. It meets that lower price point, and still offers epic stability and the amazing βone tripod, many usesβ feature set weβre known for.β
With a maximum height of almost 2 metres tall, and a minimum height of 23 cm, Charles 2.0 will enable photographers to compose images from an enormous range of different perspectives thanks to its modular functionality.
Charles 2.0 is heavier than Winston, because of its magnesium alloy legs and column. Many users will find this a bonus when using the new tripod in windy locations.

Like each of the tripods in 3LTβs Pro Range, Charles 2.0 has three detachable legs. Users can use the legs as boom arms, join them to the centre column to create a monopod, or replace them with Vanz tripod footwear* to create a tabletop tripod. Charles 2.0 features three independently adjustable leg angles, and a removable/reversible centre column which offers users dozens of different configurations in a single tripod system.
3LTβs Pro Range products are all named after inspirational figures, and they named Charles for naturalist and biologist Charles Darwin. It joins travel tripods Leo 2.0 (Leonardo da Vinci) and Albert 2.0 (Albert Einstein), landscape and studio tripod Winston 2.0 (Winston Churchill), and travel-friendly monopod Alan 2.0 (Alan Turing) to expand the range.
