Legends Mike Carbon Fibre Levelling Base Tripod System

Love 3 Legged Thing gear. This is my second tripod and its awesome. My Eric is still going strong, this one though has that bit more stability I've sometimes looked for.

Always been a Manfrotto user, and my current tripod was starting to show its age, as I was with the weight of it.

I was looking around, and had heard good stuff about 3 Legged Thing - so I decided to to have a look at the offerings, as I was after a levelling head and no centre column, which is where I met Mike.

After a short one sided online courtship, I invited him to my house and he came straight over the next day, I paid for the first date, but it's OK I am a traditional sort of bloke.

Little did I know how he would make me feel. We went on a few trips together, he was always there to support me and well here we are, a match made in Heaven or rather a Chicken Shed.

I will be honest, since we first got together I have cheated on him a bit, with Winston who I invited over as he offered me a little something heavier - but that is another story....

Anywho, if you want a tripod - get a 3 legged thing, made by 3 Legged Thing.

I couldn't be happier with this tripod.

Been following 3 Legged Thing for a quite a bit now and was in the market for a New Tripod and went with the Mike as I was after a sturdy Tripod for wildlife photography and landscape photography. With Mike having the Levelling Base this is outstanding and with the Airhed Cine on it this will also allow me to have a smooth motion when recording the wildlife really looking forward to get out using it and got say it's best Tripod I have found that when fully extended is at the perfect height for me with been 6ft 4 would highly recommend 3 Legged Thing.

As a landscape photographer, I've been looking for a tripod that's stable while not being stupidly heavy, with the benefit of a levelling base built in, I was recommended this tripod by a mate and finally took the plunge. The tripod is absolutely solid and looks great to boot. Haven't really put it through its paces yet, but heading up to Scotland this week where I'm sure it will be abused.

Choosing a tripod is tough. So really pleased to finally buy 3LT's Mike tripod. It's really stable, even with a heavy lens, relatively light for its size and easy to set up high or low. The quality of construction and detailing are excellent. It's a great tripod, great to use, I really recommend it.

I looked at a lot of tripods before I finally settled on Mike. It has all the features I was looking for, carbon fiber to cut down on weight, video leveling head, with the Swiss plate a good solid base. I use it with everything from a 16mm bolex to Chamonix 4x5 and everything in between. After using it for a year or so now I'm still mostly happy with the purchase. There are a few things I wish where different. The biggest one is I wish there was a stop on the legs when the tripod is closed. The legs are always flapping around and getting criss crossed when closed even tightening them down as much as possible. This seems like it would be an easy fix that would make the tripod much more user friendly. I also wish the head had some tensioning options for video shooting instead of just semi-tightening everything. Word of advice, put some thread locker (but not the permanent stuff!) on the foot threads in particular. I've had those work their way off on hikes a couple times. All and all a good tripod for the price that works well with the many different cameras I use it with.

I love using this tripod. What it lacks in portability—it's pretty long when collapsed—it more than makes up for in stability and ease-of-use.

Furthermore, there was a slight error in my shipment, and the WONDERFUL customer service team got a replacement item in record time. This was for an overseas shipment, mind you.

I will be a customer for a very long time. Highly recommend!

I own a few products from 3LT, and I absolutely love all of them - the quality is so good, my only regret is buying products from other brands before I knew 3LT existed. If you hesitate, don't. You will not regret it. Worth every penny!

If this was a painting it would be hanging in the Louvre, it's a work of art! The standard of engineering is second to none.
This tripod appealed to me as I wanted a leveling head as I do a lot of panorama's. I am also a fan of seascapes so the "Clawz" were a must, they really give me a solid footing in sand.
The Airpro ball head I purchased is a perfect match and is rock solid.
I also love the versatility this kit gives me with the "Vanz", now I also have a superb table-top tripod.

I would highly recommend this to anyone.

Mike is An amazing tripod for Wildlife or general use.
wWth the option to have it low to the ground or detach all three legs get the vans legs and you have a table top tripod great for in RSPB hides or even you the base as stand for monopod. the leveling base helps you make sure all photos are level at all times.
