Our Pro Team is a fantastic group of talented photographers, many of whom have used 3 Legged Thing tripods and accessories for several years. Over the coming months, we will be introducing you to the different members of the team, using short Q&As to give you some insight into how they work, what equipment they use, and how they became professional photographers.

First in the series is Ben Eaton-Williams, a young landscape photographer, based on the Isle of Skye!

What is your earliest memory of handling a camera?

“My first memory of handling a camera has to be around the age of six where I was given a small compact camera to use, I would walk around the garden taking pictures of all the different flowers and plants.”

Was there a single event that made you decide to become a professional photographer?

“It would have to be the second time that I had ever attempted shooting up at the Old Man Of Storr at sunrise. I was one of the only people around, and after the previous day's disappointing weather, I was rewarded with some incredible light.

“This moment of light and the satisfaction that I got from shooting it definitely cemented my ambition to pursue photography as my profession.”

What is your favourite location to capture?

“My favourite location to capture has to be the Cuillin Hills in Skye. With them being so dramatic and with so many unique shapes and forms, they offer so many different photographic opportunities."

Favourite camera you have ever used or owned, and why?

“My favourite camera has to be the Canon EOS 5D MIV, it being the camera that I currently shoot with. Mainly with it being rugged and weather-sealed, I know that it is a camera that I can always rely on. As well as offering some great image quality in such a small package.”

What’s in your kit bag?

“Canon EOS 5D MIV

Canon EF 16-35mm F4L

Canon EF 24-70mm F4L

Full set of LEE filters”

Name 5 essential items in your photography bag.

“Extra dry and warm clothes

JetBoil stove to make a cup of tea

Loads of microfibre cleaning cloths

Waterproof camera cover

Emergency first aid kit”

How would you describe your style of photography?

“Representative. I really like to shoot and process my images in a way that makes them look as close to the scene that I was looking at when I pressed the shutter button.”

What is one question you’d like to be asked and never have been?

“Do you want me to carry your bag up this mountain for you?”
